Former NFL star Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson will make his boxing debut on June 6th as part of the undercard of Floyd Mayweather vs. Logan Paul. Johnson will fight an exhibition match against a yet-to-be-determined opponent.

ESPN reports that Johnson will likely fight in a 4 or 6 round match against a celebrity or fellow athlete from outside the professional boxing ranks.

Longtime Bad Left Hook readers will recall that Johnson has agitated for a high-profile fight for over 12 years.

Andre Berto, Johnson’s original target back in 2009, is nearly 38 years old and hasn’t fought in almost 3 years. Berto was forced to drop out of a 2019 fight because of a torn bicep, and hasn’t been booked for another fight since then. Berto’s lengthy layoff and status as a former WBC and IBF welterweight champion would seem to rule him out as a viable opponent for Johnson.

But right now, anyone else that’s famous and not a pro boxer could be in the running! Sound off in the comments on who you’d like to see in the ring against Chad Johnson. Olympic gold medal figure skater Kristi Yamaguchi? That nine year old kid that makes a quarter of a billion dollars a year opening toys on YouTube? Big Bird from Sesame Street?
