Queensberry’s July 24th Joe Joyce vs. Carlos Takam show will feature a number of up-and-coming prospects, including 22-year-old super welterweight Hamzah Sheeraz, and a quality British title fight between Chris Jenkins and Ekow Essuman.

Sheeraz (12-0, 8 KO) has looked the goods thus far as a professional, most recently dominating Argentine veteran Guido Nicolas Pitto on last November’s Joyce-Dubois undercard. Spain’s Gurria (15-1, 3 KO) looks to be around or below Pitto’s level, as he’s spent his whole career mulching low-level opposition and got stopped in three by David Soria in his most notable fight to date.
Jenkins (22-3-3, 8 KO) vs. Essuman (14-0, 5 KO) looks like the evening’s best-matched fight. Jenkins took the British welterweight title from Johnny Garton in 2019 and managed two defenses before year’s end, a technical decision over Paddy Gallagher and technical draw with Liam Taylor, while Essuman kicked off his Queensberry tenure by beating Cedrick Peynaud last September.
They were supposed to meet in March before Jenkins suffered a perforated eardrum.
The evening will also see super bantamweight Chris Bourke (9-0, 6 KO) meet James Beech Jr. (12-1, 2 KO) and heavyweight David Adleye (6-0, 5 KO) take on TBA.
