BT Sport’s light-heavyweight showcase scheduled for this Saturday has lost one of its marquee names. Anthony Yarde’s opponent, Emin Atra, withdrew from the co-headliner citing an injury. No suitable replacement was found, so as of now the event will continue minus Yarde. This is the second cancellation of this matchup, as it had first been scheduled for the Cash-Bentley undercard in April before Yarde had to bow out with a tooth abscess.
The headliner of this event is a matchup between undefeated fighters Lyndon Arthur (18-0, 12 KO) and Davide Faraci (15-0, 7 KO), although the latter’s record comes against much softer opposition than Arthur’s.
This second cancellation is a bit of a shame considering that this card seemed to be designed to build interest for the rematch between Yarde and Arthur. Arthur earned a narrow split-decision victory in what was a minor upset in their first meeting in December, a loss that earned Yarde’s trainer a fair amount of criticism.
Hopefully the third time’s the charm and Yarde and Atra stay healthy all the way to fight night, or maybe Yarde can secure the Arthur rematch next provided the Commonwealth light-heavyweight champion takes care of business Saturday.
