Sources have revealed to Dan Rafael that welterweight Gabriel Maestre will have a new opponent in Mykal Fox for Saturday’s PBC on Fox event, as Cody Crowley recently tested positive for Covid-19. This matchup was scheduled to headline the August 7 card in Minneapolis, but viewers of the Michael Coffie vs Jonnie Rice event this past Saturday may have noticed that Eimantas Stanionis vs Luis Collazo is now getting main billing.
That change makes sense even without a last-minute opponent switch, as Stanionis-Collazo is arguably the more noteworthy matchup. Fortunately for Gabriel Maestre (3-0, 3 KO), he retains a spot on the card, if not in the main event as initially planned. Unfortunately for the amateur standout, Mykal Fox (22-2, 5 KO) might well be a more difficult test. He will have a five inch height advantage, and has been something of a stumbling block for at least one prospect in the past.
Rounding out the card is the return of Devon Alexander against Lucas Santamaria. Santamaria, it should be noted, sprung an upset over Fox in the latter’s last ring appearance.
