Premier Boxing Champions has announced that David Benavidez vs. Jose Uzcategui, previously slated to take place on August 28th before “El Bandera Rojo” tested positive for COVID, will now go down November 13th. As before, it’ll take place at Footprint Center, formerly known as Phoenix Suns Stadium.

While the original Showtime opener between Carlos Castro and Oscar Escandon got moved to last weekend’s Pacquiao-Ugas card, David’s brother Jose (27-1, 18 KO) remains on the show against Argentina’s Francisco Emanuel Torres (17-3, 5 KO). No word yet as to whether it’s still planned as a tripleheader.

Benavidez (24-0, 21 KO) and Uzcategui (31-4, 26 KO) will duke it out for WBC mandatory challenger status, though it might take a while to actually cash that since all four belts could have a single owner by the time they meet. While it’s nowhere near as appealing a matchup as it would have been when both held belts, it figures to be extremely violent and entertaining for however long it lasts.
