Jake Paul has Tweeted that he’s now a “retired boxer,” which could be legit, could be a troll, and could be something that he thinks for the time being but later changes his mind about, which would make him roughly the 32,143rd boxer in history to do such a thing. So maybe today is the day he’s become a true professional fighter, ending all debates.

Retired boxer
Paul beat Tyron Woodley via decision on Sunday night, and sounded in his post-fight interview as if he was a little unsure if he wanted to keep fighting, and at the very least like he wanted to take a serious break from the sport, from the training, from all of that.
As we discussed earlier, this is a 24-year-old multimillionaire with no actual need to keep boxing, and if you don’t have the need, it can get a little dicey. Woodley, the 39-year-old former UFC champ, pushed Paul a lot more than Jake’s previous three opponents did, and the idea of doing a rematch or having to step it up another notch from there may be a little much at the moment.
But Paul could also take a break, do some other stuff, and come back later. There’s a very marketable fight out there with KSI, for instance, which would be a step back in competition and certainly betray the previously stated goals for Paul to become a world champion boxer, but talk is talk, and reality is Jake Paul is a special attraction — and a real attraction — and nobody sane is asking him to go fight Canelo Alvarez or whatever.
Anyway, that’s the Jake Paul update. At the very least, it may give us some breathing room from Jake Paul updates. Or he could change his mind and post another one tomorrow.
