Tyson Fury shares advice on how Anthony Joshua can rebound in rematch with Oleksandr Usyk

Fury says boxing isn’t rocket science, and Joshua will have to dig deep and be prepared to adjust if he’s to beat Usyk in rematch.

Wil Esco is an assistant editor of Bad Left Hook and has been covering boxing for SB Nation since 2014.

During this video interview captured by Fight Hype, WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury talks about Anthony Joshua’s recent loss to Oleksandr Usyk and shares what he thinks Joshua needs to do in order to turn things around in the rematch. Check out some excerpts of what Fury had to say on the subject below.

Fury on his success in rematches and what advice he’d give to Joshua on how to bounce back to beat Usyk in their rematch

“I just go in there and do what I always do, and that’s try to be victorious and give 100%. That’s all you can do. You can only do your best in boxing, and if it’s not good enough you don’t win, and if it is good enough you move on to the next one.

“There’s no secret, no rocket science to boxing. Although a lot of these fighters today try to make it quite technical and all this ‘downloading data’ bullshit — I’ve never heard such bollocks in me life — it’s two men fighting, punching each other in the face and body for 12 rounds or less. There’s no rocket science to it. You’ve got to train hard, get to bed early, eat right, drink plenty of water, and get stuck-in the best way you can.

“And if it’s not going your way with the one game plan you have, change it up and do something different. Give your best, give all you can, leave it all in the ring, and don’t be a ‘iffa, woulda, coulda, shoulda.’ Don’t even think to yourself ‘if I would’ve trained harder, or if I would’ve give more in whatever round I could’ve done better.

“My advice to Joshua in the rematch is to get stuck-in the best way he knows how, put his best foot forward, and swing away, Jack, swing away.”

It should be mentioned that Joshua has just taken to social media to assure his fans that he’s already watched back the tape on the Usyk fight, analyzed his training and mistakes, and says he ready to make changes for their rematch.
