‘Maybe the stubbornness will remain’: Eddie Hearn reacts to PBC’s new deal with Prime Video

Eddie Hearn says he’d be willing to work with PBC but they haven’t always been interested in cooperating.

Eddie Hearn would be willing to work with PBC if they can find a deal that’s suitable for both sides.

Matchroom promoter Eddie Hearn talks to Fight Hub about this weekend’s fight between Regis Prograis and Devin Haney before touching on the recent big news of PBC signing a deal with Amazon’s Prime Video going forward. Check out some of what he had to say about all of that below.

Hearn on people looking over the fact Haney could perform better at 140

“I also think people are underestimating that Devin Haney might punch harder at 140. Don’t forget physically the stress on his body to make 135 was brutal. So I actually think he’s going to punch harder at 140.

“Regis can definitely punch but his boxing skills are also underrated. I think it’s a brilliant matchup, I really do.”

On PBC signing a deal with Amazon Prime

“I don’t know the financials. I don’t think it’s a massive rights fee deal, (it seems like a revenue share) which is difficult but also at the same time, good. Glad they got a broadcast, glad that we got another player in the broadcast world of boxing because we need it, they needed it. You know, they got a lot of good fighters that need to be serviced and hopefully it’s a deal that can service their roster.”

On if he’d be willing to work with PBC under their new deal

“Yeah, of course. PBC have always wanted to keep everything in house. And probably now they don’t have the deal to do that but maybe the stubbornness will remain. I think everyone should work together. You know, we’ve seen really with the Saudi card when promoters come together, how great you can build a card and how big a night can be. But we’ll see what happens, obviously they’ll want to have their talent with their broadcaster and we want to do the same so it’s difficult to make those fights but hopefully we can make some big fights moving forward.”
