Gabriela Fundora has signed a co-promotional deal with Golden Boy Promotions, who will retain Sampson Boxing as her other co-promoter.

The 21-year-old Fundora turned a lot of heads last October when she dominated and stopped Arely Mucino in the fifth round to win the IBF flyweight title on a Golden Boy card.

Fundora (12-0, 5 KO) is set to make her first defense on Jan. 27, facing Christina Cruz (6-0, 0 KO) on Golden Boy’s Munguia vs Ryder card.

“I am ready and prepared for my first title defense and I feel like nothing can stop me from winning,” said Fundora. “Christina Cruz is a good fighter, but I am building my legacy as a champion and no one can stop me.”

“We were blown away by Gabriela’s performance in October, and are proud to have yet another world champion fighting under the Golden Boy banner,” said Golden Boy’s Oscar De La Hoya. “At just 21 years old, the sky’s the limit for her and I fully expect her to deliver a knockout performance in Phoenix.”

Fundora is the younger sister of 154 lb contender Sebastian Fundora, and like her brother is very tall for her weight, listed at 5’9” as a 112 lb fighter, making her a difficult enough matchup without even getting to the fact that she’s very good at boxing.
